the fact your first thought was you wont gain karma for doing good shows alot about how you think as if doing anything must give you something in order to do that sad really as for the fact that we are talking about actions in a fantasy world your karma not real holds no water.

Literally yes, MC isn't obligated in any form or way in the slightest to help out strangers, especially as an adventurers since by nature adventurers are fueled by greed and have to put their own life on the line to achieve what they want, be it money status etc.

But in all honesty, I'll side with demonslender since I myself am not willing to risk my own life to save others because I at least acknowledge myself enough to realize I can be selfish. After all if it is wrong for me to prioritize my life over others, then victims should also be labeled as murderers for getting others who saved them killed (and no I don't mean simply by the person getting survivors guilt I mean being ostracized as a murderer themselves for indirectly killing people), or at least that's how I view this whole moral dilemma
