I wonder what kind of political statement makes for Youko giving up her weapon and reckoning she gives more trouble with it, also leaving her vengeance to "you, man".

Her chances are more limited and also had the "driver" training, not the "assasin"'s. She lost to the other driver though.

I think it's being established that being a woman is disadvantageous in the crime world, or even the world as a whole. Pretty grim but can't argue that given the story.

It's definitely interesting to think about -- sure, there's the difference in Youko's skill compared to others' -- but it's also about how everyone's behaviour changes for her. Like they said earlier, she's being treated like a woman.

It's not her fault, but people are going out of their way and imprinting their own beliefs onto her -- that she shouldn't kill, that it's too dangerous for her, etc.

In some cases they're right, in other cases it might've been more advantageous to use her skills to give them the edge. Guess we'll see how it turns out.

I uh tried to stop myself, and did not succeed. It was just so effortlessly bingeable, whenever I thought I'd be at a good place to stop there was some new dangling thread or element that I just wanted to know how it resolved.

I'm trying to be considerably less degenerate for the sequel.

Understandable, it's a very good read. At least you're stopping to read some comments, so it's not that bad ;)

honestly, I think it's mainly due to sexism in Japan.
