@Kaarme What he meant was modern law enforcement in 1st world countries have advanced so much in the information era that many things became convenient for the police force that the old tricks will most certainly get you caught. Easy access to cameras, human resources, logistics, modern forensics and other convenient tools almost makes it impossible to get away with serious crimes like 1st degree murder. Flashy assassinations can only happen in movies because they leave too many traces or completely luck out in circumstances but in reality if you tried to mask yourself and use a weapon to kill someone, there's a big chance that you will leave both traces and witnesses that you'll be caught soon enough. In other words, being a assassin in this day and age is a one-way ticket to jail in a matter of a month.

I agree, it also helps characters have more distinct faces which tends to be an issue with more stylized art in a lot of manga
