Thats great. If he meant it, *then the bodyguard wont need to stand for him now and the life owing matter would come to an end the more easy it is to get rid of him. Hail the empress.

Damn, things are moving rather fast for our empress hmm? Not that I don't like it, on the contrary :d

@lexy This will probably be a setback for her, while the big honcho did say that the prince wouldn't succeed him, no one outside of that room knows that.

And from what little interactions we've seen from the court officials, he still has more support than her.
(sort of obvious, but going after her benefactor isn't going to go over-well either.)

Huh~~~~
So the Princess doesn't know that her father is being poisoned by her in-laws, that can be good for the future!
She could use this reason as treason and finish her wedding, since she didn't know how far they would go.

While it's good to have that arrogant crown prince taste his own medicine, it's still jarring not to know how things happened.

Right before the flashback, in chapter 16, Hong Lyon had barely managed to keep her new palace, which was only relatively better than her old one. She was still the lowest of the low in the princess hierarchy, every other sibling was better positioned than her, and in chapter 17 the citizens point out that, when she left the country two years ago, her attendants "looked like they were being dragged to the slaughterhouse" and many thought she was being banished.

So how come she is so favored now that she's trusted to deal with (some of) the affairs of the kingdom? How did she become so influential in the Empire? I guess we'll get flashbacks sooner or later, but I really want to know. And where are the other royals? We've only seen the Crown Prince so far.

@Misticsan Her being sent off was basically a banishment they sent her to a different country expecting her to never return but she won over the officials and influential people she needed and when she came back she had actual political weight to throw around. The world of politics is rather boring (when the world isn't trying to look retarded) I assume it was stuff like mutually beneficial deals and good advice.

@Misticsan I agree with what you said, except for one part. She actually got a better palace after that whole fiasco. The one that was only a little better than her old palace was still "taken away" but after they made the younger brother apologize she got a better palace instead. At one point we hear either the other princess or her mom complaining about that. That the mc got a palace that was rumored to be super beautiful, so much so that the king had stayed there in the past (when he was younger I guess). Also I heard somewhere the reason it's so fast is because the author wants the focus on the mc and ml I think. Not the other stuff, though I don't know how true that is. But it's seems plausible. So possibly no flashbacks.

@Sharkexpert12 Seems reasonable enough, but even then, I'd like to see it. I'm a sucker for those plots in several series, where the heroine rises to the top through politics. Especially since her fiance wasn't with her in the Empire and, as the lowly princess of a foreign country sent there mostly as a punishment, she must have had her own share of difficulties.

@starred1 My bad, it's true, the palace she got was Cheonsu, one of the really nice ones. I didn't remember that part.

Well, it's true that prince boy would make a terrible emperor. Aside from selfish and arrogant, he appears to be a fucking moron. He may also be leading his bodyguard to a crisis of loyalties. If Dowun wasn't concentrating on getting rid of him, he could probably recruit him. Still not much of a team builder.

Well, now the King has collapsed and things are not looking good for the crown prince. Oh how the tables have turned.
Poor bodyguard Baek, he should be treated better. I'm really excited to see the princess and who she will become once she has gained even more power. It's so interesting.
