@lindyhopper343434
This made my morning; why so high-strung about this?
I may understand why people troll now; you're heated in ways I can't fathom, but it's kind of fun to see.
Mad props to the author though; it's amazing that we're all reading this and seeing
totally different things about each character.
You keep thinking the worst of Dowun. I'll carry on seeing the worst in Lyon. Female MC can do no
permanent wrong after all, it's in the bylaws of shoujo.
That this work attempts to go gritty doesn't erase that premise of her being in the right.
ML 1 has a shred of realist behaviour in a highly political setting and here come the wolves. ML 2 ticks all the shoujo man boxes (just love, be physically strong and be kind, not much else to him), of course he's beloved.
Lord forbid a man have ambitions beyond love for that one woman beside him...
Dowun is written to be difficult, hidden intentions and veiled emotion, as most real persons are.
I'm sorry, to me, Baek seems kind of dry; kind, has no deep desires (except to... love? 🤭)
If you think for a second that Dowun's behaviour isn't based off actual successful political leaders/advisers, I weep for you.
Those are the kind of people running most countries, sadly. They affect policy, law and enforcement; hence this behaviour can be frowned upon, but it gets basic stuff done and that's the world we live in.
You talk of manipulation as if it's
always a bad thing. What do you consider parenting or relationships to be, then?
Leave the child or partner open to all non-beneficial influences, activities and actions, because
free will, something-or-other?
Watch them self destruct or never go as far as they could have because
I wanted you to figure things out on your own?
Or would you do your utmost to help build a person better than you, with contacts, abilities and reach beyond your own?
Society - and thus people - is manipulative. Every single person is living according to some long dead or living person's dictate, planned or otherwise. The shape of your house. The road routes. The education. Your clothing fabric and styles. The food available. If not outright enforced, it is implied.
You don't have to like it. It is what pertains.
I can see your inevitable "no one gets to decide what I want for me/others"; don't worry. I understand.
You're exactly right, and so am I.
PS:
If one can recognise the signs of manipulation, excellent; knowing is half the battle. Learn to make them work for your own benefit, not barge through all in your emotions. Or plan to extricate yourself, your navel isn't buried there.
Life advice for Lyon: use caution, manipulate back. Or plan to leave. This applies to anyone who needs it too.
Adopt the deviousness, don't reject it out of hand.
Regardless, all this bile won't do much in the long run.
I'm pretty sure this manhwa will have an unsatisfying end for all of us, just like reality.
