I honestly wondered whether I should use “aquariums” or not, but what was the deciding factor for me was that the dictionary indicated that “aquaria” was more common.
I always say “aquaria” myself, but I'm also the kind of person who says “octopodes” just to spite the “octopi” plebeians.
