For le english enjoyers, she's a classmate from middle school that also thought he was scary at first due to appearance / rumors but after interacting with him and talking to him, she learned he wasn't really the way the rumors said (surprising, right?) but I guess she was still too scared to publicly interact with him and maybe something else, considering the last panel.
