Actually reminds me of a short manga that tried to pull something similar. This girl got blessed by the spirit of darkness, so her skin turned dark and her hair turned black. Which in this fantasy world was abnormal so people were discriminated against her. So far so good, sounds like the moral is "racism/discrimination based on looks is bad" and the mc's fight against it
the girl then also gets the blessing of the spirit of light. which turns her light skin. there was massive outrage and the author ended up reverting it. i think she got lighter color hair or white dots on the hair? but kept the dark skin.
