Now that became unrealistic when he still seem to care for that girl. Most of us would just assume we've been tricked since the start if we it's us in his situation and all of what she said were lies she made up as bait.

Most of us. Not all of us

Like I said in previous chapter(s) Seo is a bitch currently because she can't fight against her past. She didn't wanted to become like that. Past + facts led to this point and with a minimum of sense you can see that she is scared by her condition

Gotta admit, the fact that the MC is still trying to 'help' Seo despite the situation he currently finds himself in kind of annoys me.

He doesn't owe her shit. I'm sure all the other people in this gang have dark pasts as well, however they aren't being portrayed in a sypathetic light. Why only Seo? Because she's pretty?
Screw that! Lock her up with all her friends and throw away the key, I say.

I think it's because he believes that they shared a friendship. At least on his side of things, he was being a true one, and wants to help because he hasn't given up on her, so there's his thought process. There is a saying that being too kind is bad, and I know that many would agree with that. I don't though.

She was manipulating him for her own benefit, just like the last guy she was with. Any benefit the MC got from associating with her was completely unintentional on her part. I wouldn't call that 'help'.

Think of it this way: Imagine that you lost something important to you and no matter how hard you looked you just couldn't find it. Then a girl comes along who offers to clean your house for you for to help find it but instead steals everything own. The police catch her and return all your stuff, including the thing you were looking for. What she did 'help' you find the thing you lost, but that doesn't change the fact that she never had any intention of helping you in the first place. You don't owe her anything.

The MC sounds like he has some kind of Stockholm Syndrome. (Sorry, that was kinda long.)

@Saike
Again (see my reply to Parasite21), it sounds like Stockholm Syndrome (Not exactly, but kinda). Maybe even the Halo effect (first time having a pretty girl be nice to/interested in him).
My point is the MC is not thinking clearly IMHO.

@matcap you're not wrong here about Stockholm Syndrome but it is what it is for Junu
and to be fair by helping her he help himself and other people to break this chain of events regarding her "boyfriends"

It could be that Seo wants someone to rescue her from the grasp of the gang. Kinda got that from the shot when she looks surprised when Taeyang came. Someone strong enough to beat off this gang and force her out of this lifestyle. Maybe she is sick of it subconsciously but unable to do much on her own so she keeps entering this cycle all over and over.

I absolutely agree with you on the part that he wasn't thinking clearly. From the start, he was a bit too fast in trusting and being naive for someone who hates himself, if that makes any sense. But whether his current state is due to something like Stockholm Syndrome or something close to it, I can't definitively say it is. I guess I'll just have to see how the author writes it out, whether that's his intention here or not.

from the way the author is playing it, all the kids are going to have some messed up shit in their past, im not sure how many will get redemption but it does seem that he is trying to write them getting over their issues one way or another.

@givemersspls I agree here, though I get why he's more against Taewon. They were friends and basically that meant the MC expected something of him, unlike Lili. All the same though, I pretty much hate the MC for calling Taewon here and being so bent on helping Lili while she's the reason he's getting his ass whooped and even had to call Taewon in the first place.

But, guys, you miss something, more you know someone, more the suffer will be deep. Taeyang ruined his school life during months or more, years, here Lila ruined nothing, she just fucked up, when you know someone since a week you don't really care/suffer, but she helped (maybe involuntarily) him to wake up and move his ass, and we all know that her past is fully or in part true, she is tortured by this. Some guys would just ingore, some, not, Joonwoo chose to help her. Plus, it's not a pig like his past "friend" the piggy fucker one, who would ruin again his life lol

Plus at this time, when Taeyang wanted to reconcile, Joonwoo was still in a deep hole of depression/weak state. You all and me, when joonwoo refused to reconcile, were like "yeahhh nice Joonwoo, don't make peace with this fucker with all he done, he ruined you!!", it's quite hypocrite ?

This is how I see it.

MC sees some of himself in Lila(both had issues like bullying/abuse and fell into a dark place).
If he/no one else can get her out of the darkness, then how can the MC hope to get out himself.

Now as for why he wants to save Lila compared to other people who are abused comes down to slight differences in individuals and circumstances.

Lila was there when MC was at rock bottom again, and she was there we he picked himself back up; thus, establishing some importance to her for the MC(i.e. the pillar imagery MC has of their relationship). Furthermore, unlike Kim Taewon(hopefully Im talking about the right person now orz) Lila has yet to hurt anybody important to MC(being the depressed boi he is, Jonwoo doesn't see himself as important). If she were to hurt Yuri, Hamin, or Songha, I doubt he'd be as forgiving.

Regarding MC not forgiving Taeyang, I believe he has forgiven him or at least somewhat. When he got beat up by Daehyun(?) he said you dont have to feel guilty to Taeyang.
Wrong person. Point not relevant.

Without calling Taeyang, Jonwoo has no chance of survival(without becoming their bitch again). It was 2 v 1 here. Now with Taeyang, MC can hopefully make it out alive.

(Dont think they can beat them up seeing as Jonwoo is heavily injured, and the other fooks barely have a scratch)

Note: I'm not offering a defense of Lila. Yes she was abused and that has certainly affected her outlook and actions on life, but objectively speaking she has done shitty things. I personally won't put all blame on her, but she is still at fault to a degree for her actions. This is an just my attempt for an explanation of MC's actions.

Yes, exactly! Glad to see that I'm not the only one that sees a problem with the way the MC is handling Seo. The girl is as toxic as everyone around her but he's giving her, and only her, a pass.

I'm telling you, he's just weak for the pretty girl that made him feel good about himself, even if it was all a lie.

Like you said, the ex-boyfriend is key to understanding who Seo really is. Unless the author addresses him and resolves that plot point before redeeming Seo, I will call bullshit.
