So, I'd assume she went to ask about the baby as if it was a theoretical case, like if she had a child, what would happen to it under such and such circumstances. Because if she already had the baby and the officials saw it or understood it exists, obviously they wouldn't just let her choose if she wants the baby to exists in the national records or not.
