Except that they two are sister not just friends so the fact that the husband couldn't marry the sister because of social statues doesn't sound right. And also I'm pretty sure the legitimate daughter is older since I think I remember that the illegitimate daughter sometimes speaking to the legitimate one by by using a word used to talk to someone older (edit: chapter 11) so the husband and his sister-in-law probably started there relationship after that he was already married.

Hm, so she didn't just use the facts that this kind of flower and incense together are poisonous, because she was afraid the aunt will play ignorant and say she didn't know (because it is not common knowledge) ?
So it was best to seem still naive to them, by saying the mother is allergic to flowers?
This is then really like gambling, betting she will get out of their next scheme with hopefully more/better evidence than now ...

@pikapolonica that’s makes sense too. I thought she said allergic to flowers to ensure that the aunt and cousin in won’t try to make the mother keep the dangerous flower nor any other “flowers” aunt plans give her.

Also, the father sucks and clearly shows favoritism. No wonder Yu is disdainful against him.
