It's a tad confusing whether or not one should root for the guy, although it's a bit weird to point it so late in the story.
The guy essentially owes all of his recent success to divine protection, which made him receive the attention and care of incredibly influential and impressionable people, which then gave way to more divine protection; And at this point, it has become an absurd situation in which it's worthy to invest in him, because people have already invested in him.
This guy just snowballs "luck" like crazy.

Well look at it this way Kane has dedicated 20 years of faithful service to a goddess he never knew the name of and never expected anything from.

He effectively is the reason why the goddess of kindness became more influential so it makes sense for the goddess to bless her first and most faithful servant not to mention Kane was already a talented adventurer that never was driven to be the strongest around.
