This is actually my favorite flashback of the novel, even though it's heart-breaking. The flashbacks of WXX and LWJ's childhood/adolescence always seem to go on too long, but this flashback has the best pacing and makes me actually care deeply about these side characters.....except Xue Yang, 'cause I still loathe him
