It is criminal how stories like these have main characters that are so set on being dense they will literally scramble to find the most insane troll logic to explain something very obvious. Repeatedly. I'm inclined to look for the upsides here but it's beating a dead horse how long these 'misunderstandings' are dragged out long past their natural shelf life.
