This isn't very consistent, even within a single chapter. First it was stated her father cares for nothing but money. Then it was stated the father yearns to gain a higher title. Then it was revealed he didn't actually care for an extra money source at all. He wanted to get rid of the daughter because she supposedly wasn't profitable, even though she had just brought him a suitcase full of money, without the baron needing to lift a finger. So, what is it, huh? I don't know, the author doesn't know, nobody knows.
Honestly, it's a long stretch Leona is such a master manipulator when she couldn't make heads or tails of her own father's basic motivations or intentions.
