People going "wahh wahh don't give this one stars its good! If you don't like it don't read it!" are people who fundamentally refuse to engage meaningfully with the rating system or simply immature (or both).
I actually decently liked the story up till he befriended Rian, but I still read through the rest purely by principle. My issue isn't even the Mary-Sue-ish saintly character of the protagonist, but the complete lack of conflict resolution; when he is done wrong, I think it's fine if he forgives (even if it's sometimes a bit much), but it must also be recognised in universe. It ties directly into my perception of these characters as people with brains, and the MC in particular considering he's set up to be a genius and intellectual of sorts. The fact that neither he nor any of the other characters at the very least RECOGNISE injustice compels me to think that these are, in fact, idiots. Up and including to shirone's work as a butler, he was compassionate but also keenly aware of his own responsibilities; magic is mysterious and something of a dream that he works towards (for the better, more on that below).
The issue is this all is thrown out the window once he hits the academy arc. He is reduced to a meek, bumbling child of a character. His awareness (and use of Schema) are just reduced to zero. The spirit zone is never actually mentioned in battle outside of the first instance with Amy. The "science" is broken (and that's fine, i guess, but it takes away from immersion; I'd have much preferred it if they bridged the gap between real science and magic through some bullshit unexplained phenomena so anyone with a bit of knowledge on the subject matter isn't thrown under the bus for the sake of enforcing the characters' apparent intelligence)
As for the Romance (?) subplot that I've been informed will eventually happen; I hope it doesn't. There isn't a shred of believable romance between the two. The characters, in general, are generic. The main trio in the academy are fun enough, but everyone else is just a passing thought.
tldr; liked it for a bit, then it fell off. Probably a solid 3 or 4 out of 10.
