Funnily enough, this same logic the king so proudly boasted could also be used by the citizens to turn against their government. But well, it's realistic. That's how humans often are. They boast of the succes of their compatriots as if it's their own.
Now they think they were "liberated" from the witches, but it's actually nothing more than just "new management".
Really, how does it differ, seeking help from the witches, or from the human government?
Sure, the government might be human, but the witches seem like the more humane ones to me.
