It's kind of a trend in this manga to have bad guys who are fully capable of love, compassion and camaraderie but just refuse to extend that to our heroes or anyone the queen designated as enemies. It's surprisingly realistic as a depiction of indoctrination and cognitive dissonance.

i wonder, how long until the humans have the big reveal about their so-called queen... also, this manga is good to capture human nature, that even with the witches helping them so much, despite them being superior, and also it was a command from the god/goddes itself to protect them, humans still bited back the hand that was helping them, purely because of fear or whatever
