@owlette: I used to feel roughly the same (well, I guess a little differently—rather than feeling everyone is
great, everyone seems human and many are likable humans; potential romances here all seem awkward to me, but not unthinkable, as in real life XD).
But ever since it's started to sound like her reasons for not wanting to get married is, well—not the lack of desire for a life partner, but her fear (or more accurately, her resigned certainty) that such a partnership would destroy her current life because of her gender—I'm hoping she does find the sort of hearth and home-y relationship (the proverbial "wife" mentioned in the previous chapter, though not necessarily a girl) that she's looking for. In some shape or form.
Of course I'm assuming she likely ends up with the Emperor if anyone, unless it ends at least semi-tragically for one or both of them first, or something like that. The title being what it is. And that's probably not her ideal relationship at all. Especially with what would be expected of her. But perhaps something they can make work anyway, if it comes to that.
