@Darkwolfix Well said on that last part. I believe Pauliana wouldn't have it any other way either. If she comes to love Lucius as well, she'd want to earn the right to be by his side (as his partner) not to simply be made his concubine or become empress by default of marriage.

And I bet many in Acrea will see just that in the following chapters: That she is one hell of a Knight. She'll earn the respect and honor she deserves from all of 'em, eventually (albeit some will also still be salty about lol).

@Darkwolfix I agree a strong buffed but goofy and sweet man like monstrous duchess’s husband would suit her best.

But she is a warrior first and I don’t think she cares about titles, inheritance and whatnot. Even though she likes owning a castle, I don’t think she cares about the land, it’s management or it’s people. So marrying the emperor isn’t a problem in that aspect

@Yasagamo she doesn't but care what the culture and traditions of the people are. We know as a fact that value a lot how people see the emperor and doesn't want to be an excuse or a reason for men to continue to discriminate women. That aspect about Paulina has been shown a lot in the recent chapters so yes I do think it will affect her mentally, in her private life, and how she will display in tjis and unknown society.

That is why i do see a problem having her marrying the emperor. There are many factors, plus she doesn't see the emperor that way. She only see him as as an incredible master and man who she can relate qnd look for inspiration. Those are not thjngs you necessarily need to have to be in love. Heck, I have crushed on ppl I envy in my field so I was very competitive with them and was always in a competition with one another to be the best and number one. Outside the field it was another thing.

We can see that in qnd out of Paulina professional life, she only see the emperor as an inspiration and that all men and women should follow his example of a good man and citizen

A lot of good points made in the comments. She's her own woman & doesn't see Lucius as a romantic interest (yet anyway). I think the author could take it either way tbh.

One GOOD thing that would result from her becoming an empress in her own right would be a gradual change in the way women are viewed in their culture. There are probably other girls like the twins that worship her already. Her subordinates from the war changed their view of her & respect her. Aino's a perfect example of a stubborn jerk who gradually accepted her efforts & accomplishments despite Pauliana being a woman (took almost a decade though). So who knows, her example may bring other talented women out of the woodworks.

I think the author could justify the story either way, as long as it's properly thought out & not rushed.

In the meantime, there's too probably much political scheming going on. Those old bastards need to go.

She needs a house husband. The emperor can't do it and I wish she could find herself a gentle guy that could ease her life.
She's always on high octane so having someone mellow would suit her better than a big dude like Levi.
