@iskaeil It is a feminist story. I'm not joking. Rebecca being ambitious has something to do with the plot and how the story ends. People here are kinda not getting the message since this conversation was done better in the novel. You see, even though Pol went through those shitty things in the beginning and people looked down on her because she is a woman, she never thought there was something wrong with it; that it was what it was and the system favors the strong, so that's why she always trains. The thing is, not really, she got lucky with Lucius who was more on merit, who gave her a chance. Rebecca was asking her, who broke through the walls, to not forget women who are stuck inside the walls because she was once inside too. Basically, Rebecca is asking Pol to be more ambitious and set precedence so women in their world will have more choices in life, not just a baby boy maker. If it were up to Pol, she would have just lived her life as the only exception in the world.

Lucius likes Rebecca because of her ambition. I can say for sure that this is a feminist story because when Lucius asked Paul to marry, the first thing that went to Pol's mind was she had to give up her title, lands, and being a knight since she was gonna be the Empress. Before their wedding, she got Rebecca's letter that told her to be more ambitious and not be content and live a happy life, something like that. She went to Lucius again and told him, that she can't be the empress, because she would have to throw away the Winter name. He could take her title, lands, but never her name. She would want to always be a knight with the name Winter since he gave it to her, and that's what makes her the happiest. They separate for a year. Do you know what Lucius did? He changed the laws for Pol and his daughter. Paul becomes an empress consort and knight, doesn't have to change her name. His daughter will be the Empress.
