Aren't they able to kill people a little too quickly? given how small koi's mouthes are, as long as they can't bite the neck, it would take a couple of minutes for a person to die from bloodloss due to a bunch of small chunks being bitten off. Enough time to get to the other side or at least struggle for a while. If they all jumped in at once and swam to different points of the circle then they've got a good chance of reaching to grab the ledge and pull themselves out , and just the shrine maiden and two male helpers wouldn't be able to keep them all from getting out.

So far the plot is eh okay, nothing too fancy just crazy murderous community type of ordeal.

The authorities don't seem to mind a few dozen missing people during village festivals it seems. Also some of those villagers look quite fishy, is the chosen one being milked to fertilize the roe and that is how you make your Dagon koi people?

Idk, its too sudden, too mask off. It would've been better too keep it as a game and show some koi biting and even drawing blood, but no further, to keep their guard down and maybe even make it breeding test for the koi that bite.

In my opinion, the best type of horror is the one that eases you into and keeps the suspense for a bit before showing you the actual horror.
