cool experiment! manga does hit different when it's darker... at least for grittier series. cue flashbacks to old shoujo scans that were waaay too dark, lmao 😂
personally, I like seeing the little details and printed screentones that are only visible in a good physical scan
with digital rips, details get lost and the screentones are often compressed or oddly liquefied (i blame excessive waifu-ing for the latter though)
