I also created an ending compass for the onox Legion, or at least tried to, never got around to elaborate on it.
Also, after looking at it, there are certainly placements I'd change

Particularly swapping "TLOZ: Strange Journey Redux" & "The Abyss of Politics" and "A land of Men and Monsters" & "Good Uncle Onox"

I would consider the left half apart from "General Onox's Wild Ride" but with "the legion disbands" to fall into the gritty area.
Is this becoming a HOI4 mod? All of the "legion" talk is really OWB....
Let's make it happen cap'n!

It's more inspired by the EU4 mod anbennar. If I ever get around to it, It would more likely be in the form of EU5 or another GSG, HOI4 wouldn't really fit with the total war style combat.

The Onox Legion - Dramatis Personae

Main Cast

General Onox

General Onox, the Dragon of the Middle, the Lord of Destruction, the scourge of Calatia, the "gentleman knight" or just the Bandit King is the warlord of the Onox Legion, named after himself.

He used to be only the chief of the Orzaxi monster tribe, before he led his tribe on the conquest and razing of the dark world region of Arghusar and dominating the tribes, before forming the Onox Legion. He seemed to follow some sort of plan, as his Rule of Arghusar seemed to consist mostly of extracting finances and troops from the region, before abandoning it for the invasion of the light world, which sealed the fate of the powers that were.

As his personality, it can be described as a conosseur for destruction of all kinds, worshipping the various forms of the act, be it classical destruction of empires, buildings and societies, but also more abstract types, like him being very clean(destruction of dirtyness), an enjoyer of food and drink (destruction via jaws) and misconceptions (philosophical trolling).

He refers to himself with a mix of first and third person: "I, General Onox state that I, General Onox, have succesfully destroyed the alcohol in this barrel, Gyahahahaha" - General Onox at one of his legendary parties, after destroying his liver by downing an entire barrel of wine.

Surprisingly, he is rather successfull in his role as the regent of Teldinselma, despite his grumbling about it.

Archduke Vire

Vire is Onox's second-in-command, the self-described archduke of the keese. He used to be the leader of an Arghusan tribe that first challenged the Legions initial conquest, before deciding to ally and join Onox's horde instead.

For a monster, he is rather proficient in the art of diplomacy, being one of the few that can convince Onox to change his decisions and having been the main force behind the treaty of Ordon.

While normally a tad standoffish and cranky, he can be quite charmant when he locks in the diplomatic game, where he is a tricky and fierce negotiator.

During the two campaigns, Vire established networks in the Hylian East and the Gerudean West, which made the peace of Ordon possible. With his network, he heard about the Hero's awakening as soon as it happened and reacted accordingly.

He seems to have a vested interest in the continued existence of the legion and seems to also be surprisingly loyal towards general Onox.

Of the two factions forming within the legion, he belongs to the civilized one, adopting governmental structures to have a stable rule over his realm, the gray garden.

Riphon, the Ashlass

Riphon is the recently risen lord of the ashlands, as the dungeon boss of the house of ashes, a title she gained by defeating it and taking the dungeon for herself.
Her fighting style is a mix of using her bat and also fire magic,
She seems a bit on the phlegmatic side normally, aloof and indifferent, even during fighting, she just does what she wants.
It is said though, that if the fight is against someone that has earned her respect, she gets rather fiery personality wise.
Like most ashlanders, her opinion towards the hylians and gerudo is rather negative, even if she didn't live during the times when the ashlands were part of the conflicts between them, she has no problems with going on raids against them.

What only few know is that she is a complete octorok fan and finds them extremely cute, swooning if she meets one without anyone else around.

Finally, a secret that noone yet knows, not even her: She is this generation's red maiden of the old lands.

That rewrite took longer than expected and I'm almost at the point where I originally paused the project.
Next will be the parts of the Onox Legions, with the bosses involved.

Drownedplains

Lore

The drowned Plains in the north of the Legion is where the invasion originally began. Formerly known as the Altum Lowlands, the area has been thoroughly razed, leaving only ruins and flooded plains.
The inner area is mostly untamed wilderness, consisting of flooded plains and swamps, the only remainder of the civilisation existing there only 20 years before being the drowned ruins, with the survivors of the invasion hiding in there.
Near the coast, though, are areas where monsters have amassed and staked their claim upon, particularly the Octoroks, Geozards and Toadpoli.

The Main Dungeon of the Area is mostly referred to as the Sunken City, hunting grounds of the Dragon Aquamentus. It is a flooded castle city, the streets and buildings being flooded. Some areas are submerged further than others, requiring swimming equipment to further explore.
Otherwise, a different area of note is the Nova Arghusar outpost, around the Dark World Portal, where not everything that comes out is desirable to the legion.

Gameplay Thoughts

The Drowned Plains would be the starting area of a potential game in this setting and in general have a focus on exploration and combat, resembling a classic Zelda game the most for the start.
There wouldn't be any friendly population centre, but smaller, scattered camps of survivors.
It also would introduce a concept that I am doing in the entire legion, having a main Dungeon and several optional sub dungeons, each with their own gameplay style.
I had it, for example, that the Sunken City was themed around exploration, stealth and Battle, imagining it like the player drudging through the area while avoiding Aquamentus until the player was ready to defeat the boss, with an underwater section that even could be blocked off until later (Though, given that none of the other areas are water related, I am not sure if the swimming gear wouldn't be one of the key items of this area. Then again, that would probably cause trouble, so I'd say they are somewhere different and serve more to unlock more of this part).

The Humid Depths would be the Extra Dungeon, completely optional and more of a difficult challenge for later, maybe even a postgame thing? I haven't really done much planning for it at all, only the general status of what it is supposed to be.

The Octorok Deluge and Geozardia would serve more as more general battle challenges, while Toadpolis would be a pure puzzle area, where the player has to finaggle with what's similar to athenian politics for a change.
