That Lionel is obviously the demon spreading the demonic curse. He immediately tried to kill Curie, a healer from the outside, who might be able to fix things, for all he knows. He failed but has ever since followed Curie, looking for another chance to kill her.

There's something indeed off about Lionel, although it may be becouse "cat people" trope his initial welcome was way over the top.
Curie should check her character sheet, with all that practicing her stats should improve and knowing limits would prevent suddenly going to sleep.
