No, you are not weird. Normally, you would want to give the scene like that more impact. Like, it's not a once and done scene, it supposed to be the very core and the reason as to what she will do in the future. It supposed to make the reader "Owh... Yeah, obviously she would do that, even i don't want to be part of a tree like that".
Even if they do it by changing the body color other than her head and neckline a wood color should be enough if the artist have trouble with creating the scene. I honestly feel a little disappointed they didn't even try that. I know the Korean webtoon use 3d model and area using things like clip studio or acon3d to actually make the scene, so i understand if it's the model problem, but they didn't even try with just coloring parts of her to make it look like she becoming wood...
