@Ifrittuccia When the protagonist is hungry the wolf traits are stronger so her senses are super sharp; when the school served something smelly for lunch she was sickened by the smell of her classmates' breath, and could then hear everyone whispering behind her back afterward. The bit about hearing her mother from upstairs and downstairs is just her comparing her insistent new "friends" to a viral ghost story she saw on the internet.

I understood roughly everything, so for the question that the mother felt both upstairs and downstairs it was just an example of ghost story.
This was the part that most confused me, I thank you for explaining everything to me. 😅
Even though I am still a little perplexed, I am sure that as the story progresses I will understand better by myself.

I love the absolutely ridiculous personalities the characters have
