That's why I hate goody two shoes characters like Reiji, they get blackmailed and manipulated way too easily...
At least he's not the MC.

Yup that fucking hero is too fucking naive, now he is mad cause of this?? REMEMBER WHAT OUR MC SAID TO THE HERO?
Yeah that happened the hero and the girl deserves to be in pain for not listening to our MC's logical and reasonable explanation
at the beginning

At the same age as the Hero, I would have played crotch-soccer and thrown a punch way before the Hero did, and I would've despised that oldster for the remainder of my life.
I also would have been way more verbally passive-aggressive, come to think of it.

Now, at a much older age, I see his point; I would probably do what he's doing honestly.

Old age and treachery truly does defeat youth and enthusiasm...

Also, while the Hero may be naïve, don't confuse his idealism for it; you can be both, and even still be right.

Think the bigger issue is that old man thought sacrificing the friends and going as far as calling it a pawn should have been a red flag that he's just gonna antagonize the cast by pretending to be a grey character when he's really just there as a plot tool.

sometimes, for the greater good of all some sacrifices has to be made, it is utterly ridiculous and ignorant to a absurd degree to think otherwise.
sure, it was a monumental mistake to do this to Sumei, but he did not know that.

the hero's ignorance is to a crippling fault, if he keeps that attitude up he will only suffer needlessly, let's hope he grows as a character.
I agree. There is no absolute good and evil. Even the gods themselves can't attain pure virtue if they allow evil to wreak havoc. I seriously hate this distinct black-and-white ideology. It is a spectrum where neither extreme can be reached—just like we can never truly reach ∞ or –∞. Heroes are often just ideological bastards who spout nonsense that only works because it's backed by plot armor as thick as their ego.

Edit: spoiler
Damn it. I just skimmed through the synopsis of the novels on j-novel, and guess what? That old guy was destined to be the antagonist. From volume 8: "Duke Hadorious still has a hostage he can use against Suimei and the others."

The hero take the horse to check on his friend, but to this point he have a parade of defeat the demon but no wonder his friend dead or alive. If this the real hero, this world is cooked. He take action by the time his emotion went up then he forget all later. LOL

Im not going to praise any form of realpolitik, especially as this is the exact kind of attitude that has destroyed so many societies and nations, including my own.

It's lies, and damned lies, designed solely to make the ego of the "leader" get bigger. (In this case, the Duke.)

I will say this to those praising him:

If you find out that you are the only person who knows what must be done, you're not the coolest kid on the school bus; you're the villain.

Bullshit.

We live in a real world, where there are consequences for actions; there is a difference between feeding a child and killing a child.

And you fucking know it.

Apologies, but I have no recollection of what I was yapping about and thus can't respond appropriately—though I can agree that what I wrote was bullshit :aquadrink:
