Exciting and fun. Great, this feels so great.
No need unnecessary drama, I like how the story flows naturally. Practice, practice and practice.

Rise and fall, once more. Learn diligently, pursue to each other.

Huh, Cuvie? The same Cuvie that draws lots and lots and lots of porn?

I guess this'll replace Ballroom with the hiatuses.

It's very good.

Ballroom is better, but this is good too. Ballroom made me,the biggest couch potato, want to dance with another human. This isn't that good, but it's sports manga entertaining I guess

The third volume of the official English release just came out (digital only), for those interested in supporting the series that way. ?

Just a friendly reminder that the fifth volume of the official English release comes out just in a couple of days, on March 26, if you would like to support the series that way. 🙂

It's a seinen in that it's published in a seinen magazine, and while it very much stands out from that particular magazine, I could see it fit in any demography. Sort of an all-age coming of age story. Very focused and grounded, but also very light and wholesome. No ecchi, no romance, no melodrama, mostly avoids tropes. Just a journey through becoming a ballet dancer.

Thank you very much for the translation. This is honestly one of my favorite manga, and I'm grateful that its being translated despite its relative lack of popularity. Thank you. I presume another 4-7 months before the next volume?

@nommitty Glad to hear it's one of your favourites!

I would assume as much, yes, although, once again, I can't guarantee I'll be working on it until then.

Cheers.

@mongs There hasn't been any hint that there would be romance so far. Might come up naturally as the characters age, depending on where the story wants to go past the current arc, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

No romance? That's a shame, been looking for mangas with strong female leads with romance that doesn't devolve into tsundere floor mats falling in love with the first abusive prick they meet, AKA the shoujo genre in general...

EDIT: Gave it a shot and ended up binging all the way to 62 (latest chapter), quite an enjoyable read. Still wish it had a bit of romance though.

This is a male-focused all-female manga, so I am sure that people will quickly find romance here, even if it really isn’t working. However, Baka Updates is sure that there is a romantic subplot in this manga.

No, it is not. At this point, a romantic subplot wouldn't make Kenrantaru a romantic story by itself. But the description (which is the official English publisher's description) is still a correct interpretation of the way Kenrantaru has been advertising itself as since the first issue ("本格バレエロマン"); a story "characterized by an idealized view of reality" and "relating to the artistic movement of romantism" (especially relevant in ballet, and whose first defining ballet would be La Sylphide, featured in the first issue) are both valid definitions of the adjective "romantic."
