I'm struggling to see WHY the wacky villain system is needed. Without its justification it just feels like a plot contrivance to this regression concept.

All we've been told is he needs "that item" to get his "happy ending"

The premise is interesting, but the execution has felt so lackluster.

It wants to feel like a video game but simultaneously not be one.

"Sis is there too so if i let you die there, she would kill me for that. Not everything is about you... Remember, Youre just a servant, id left you in a ditch if she wasnt there"

The system is so strict about good and evil that it just activates whenever the plot wants

That said im still interested I wonder how he will make his way with this flimsy ststem.

I'll let you know there is a reason for it that will be revealed later.

What story reveals all their threats and plot points in the first arc? None apparently.
The author is keeping us in the dark basically to create fake intrigue. Protagonist already knows exactly whats going on, but the author couldn't really find a way to organically get us there too without it being a snoozefest so instead we're stuck waiting on his internal monologuing to stop being pointlessly vague.

But this series hella ain't worth paying attention to for that long, lol. Not in terms of its art, its characters, or its action sequences.

This adaptation has really weird pacing, they skipped a bunch of stuff, including the info dump at the start. Looks like they're finally touching on it around chapter 20 of this webtoon.

So in chapter 1 of the novel, it mentions that the Hero from 1000 years ago, the one who wrote the prophecy, is just straight up from another world. His ancestor was playing a video game called "Dark Tale Fantasy" and called it a piece of shit before losing consciousness and getting isekai'd into it.

Frey's story 1000 years after the first hero takes place during "Dark Tale Fantasy 2", the "prophecy" is a magically made walkthrough for the game.

That last part is badly designed from the start, but the rest just suffers from the complete removal of exposition.

They explain the reason, these starting chapters are supposed to be a brutal slow burn, but they tried to rush the first plot point so hard it lost its meaning.

man I hate these plot moments where MC takes a hit to protect someone... YOU HAVE A SWORD DAMMIT. It just breaks immersion.
