What just happened?
I was sure this is a series about a Tsun2 club manager slice of life romantic comedy

It was. Until it was suddenly a time travel drama where she's trying to stop the boy she likes from dying horribly in the future from a serious of incredibly contrived events.

Honestly I'm kind of feeling like this was just a generic tsundere gag manga but after 3 chapters the author either realized there was very little room to work with in the framework joke he created so it needed a shift or it wasn't getting enough eyeballs and needed something drastic to increase its attention. And then bam out of nowhere time travel shenanigans.

Like I said at the beginning, sure, I guess. It's not like it was 20 chapters in before it pulled the switch with no warning. But it's still kind of wonky and drastic to do that with no foreshadowing that I could see (unless it's something that was in the Japanese that doesn't translate well)

If I had a nickle for every romcom Manga I read in the last two months that suddenly turned from a simple premise to weird supernatural stuff without warning I would have two nickles, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

Is the other one that one about the multiple personalities girlfriend that suddenly became a story about unethical underground human experimentation, weird shonen superpowers from a magic shrine, and a talking bear?

Because then you might have 3 if you count "the girlfriend has multiple personalities" as "simple"

So, she's a shy chuunibyou, who explains interacting with the guy, to herself, with this time travel and saving him fantasy.

That would be an interesting twist to the twist. Either way it was a wild chapter!

I mean it might not be the most normal premise but I would still call it a simple one

that one was worse than this because a) it had already found its groove before it went off the rails and b) this is still sort of in the same galaxy as its original premise, just in a skewed sort of way. The other one jumped the tracks entirely to go from "silly slice of life rom-com with a sorta-fantasy element" to "heavy shonen action drama" with no transition in between.

Still don't like the change though. Which is a shame because if it had sold itself as "girl can reset time to try and save the boy she likes from dying" while getting some comedy value out of the fact that no matter what she changes he continues to end up dying in increasingly ridiculous, unlikely, and contrived ways then I might've been on board.

It's like... don't sell me a chicken sandwich and then get confused when I look annoyed after unwrapping the package to find a veggie burrito. It might be a great burrito but if I wanted that I would've ordered it in the first place.

And no, I have no idea why my metaphors are all over the place. Except for the food one. That's because it's almost dinner time.

Thanks, the other one is "My Girlfriend has multiple personalities", premise isn't exactly as simple as this one but compared to what suddenly goes down, it's pretty much in the same spirit

Re read the first 3 chapters. They all relate to the deaths she stopped.
