The reason they ganged up on the one they did is she is the youngest and there for has the least accomplishments (i.e. she will have to work harder than any of the others to even catch up). If the family was more fair about the selection they would use a per capita set-up, so average yearly performance normalized for number of years that the potential sacrifices have been performing exorcisms.

Huh. Turns out the Vatican tsundere's theory was right. The family is organizing despite their system-only they're specifically organizing against one of their own.

I can't blame them too much when the arrangement itself is driving them into a corner, but it does seem kinda weird to target someone that hard.
There's the fact that this is inherently against the spirit of the shitty system (the least productive family member is culled), but also it's kind of a prisoner's dilemma between the second and third lowest ranking miko.

Not that any of this is gonna matter at all when the MC kicks the ninetails's ass.
