A good start! I'm eager to learn more of Charlotte's motivations. Is she gay af? Is she pissed that she got shipped off in an arranged marriage? How will the prince take it?
this seems like an interesting premise, but im confused why there seems to be an uncomfortable tension between the knight and the princess? hopefully it'll be explained later, but given she's just an escort i feel like there's no reason the princess would hold such contempt to her to the point she'd make her uneasy.
i get the feeling it might be because of the arranged marriage, but i don't see why she'd direct her anger at her escort. maybe it's just to that region in general?
reading back, this panel stood out to me:
this is no doubt The Unequal Marriage by Pukirev, which depicts a forced union between a young woman and an elderly, affluent man. she looks pale and fragile, while the groom is much older, stiff, and authoritative. the marriage here is almost a symbolic death of her autonomy, being transferred from one authority (her family) to another (her husband).
i think it's nice how well this ties into charlotte's situation, the pallor and fragility of the bride reflects charlotte's "illness," and she's being relegated from the suffocating confinement of her household to yet another form of imposed restriction.
i've never seen a manhwa reference a specific piece of art in this fashion, so i appreciated the choice a lot. it was a really nice touch!
