interesting that we don't get Alex's reaction at all yet.
She was kissed in front of everyone at the ball, the prince's most loyal knight an accessory to this scandal and we have no idea what she thinks of it.
Especially now that we get more of Charlotte's perspective and like there's no way Alex does not know she drugged the wine to get everyone asleep for her escape attempt.
I'd love to find out what Alex herself is up to.

apparently she’s the “headache” of the palace, but imagine how much of a headache it must’ve been to be even vaguely feminist at the time. getting bashed while being right is crazy.
on a more serious note, i'm glad we get this backstory. it's nice to see a "villainess" who isn't just evil, but has a grounded and precise motive, rather than something vague and flimsy as per usual. it gives some context as to why she's been behaving the way she has, and reframes her behavior as a response to her circumstances instead of simple cruelty.
