I like romance stories, but I'm too picky about it. A narrative with pacing problem or a character being a creep/over the line in a story you are suppose to like them repels me. None of those things happen here. Saki liked Kanon way before and she always was mindful about Kanon, it didn't feel like Saki's action were focused on pursuing Kanon, she likes Kanon as a friend also, while struggling with her romantic feelings and how to process it in a away that was not deceitful. Now Kanon is begining to understand her own feelings, it started as a fraternal love, developing into a romantic love she doesn't quite get it yet. And that makes total sense, Kanon being the closed up person she was until recently. The pacing is good, the art is good, the characters are good, the exposition dialogue doesn't bother me. Thanks for the translation, happy new year.

Ah Kanon chan finally and slowly realizing her feelings for Saki. 💜 And yes, Saki is rather prince like. So considerate and kind. Such a great story. I'm glad it's getting adopted into anime.

Saki fell first, but Kanon fell waaaaaaay harder.
I love this story is cute, is fun and is humane.

Also Kanon really... Boobs? That's your realization moment? Not handholding, not a smooth hero moment... Boobs. I'm judging you Woman.

Why are chapters 18-20 still missing?
Soundofspace picked up translations after the release of the latest English volume at that point, being the beginning of volume 6. I don’t think we’ll ever do those chapters because of that, sorry. I’m sure you’ll be able to find those chapters elsewhere if needed!

Hmm, I get this story is good, but we've obviously reached the point where it's time to meander and pad the run time.
The kiss is kinda undeniable, it's a manga trope to wonder "what does it all mean", like come on now.
Immediately introducing new characters, and the "i want to take my time to learn about myself", everybody is constantly learning about themselves what are you talking about. You just don't want to follow up on the pivotal moment. Idk, I'd rather this be a quick cute story that has plenty of depth already, than use cheap editor tactics to extend the life of a story that's so focused and rare for the genre.

Idk as soon as I read the chapter after the kiss, I couldn't help but get deflated, recognizing the strategy I've seen countless times at this point.
It's such a good story, I really rather it maintain its integrity

What kiss...? If you mean the firework scene it's actually just Saki leaning in closer so Kanon can read her lips though I get it was confusing at first I also hoped for that😆

Gotta be real, I disagree wholeheartedly. Not only was that not a kiss, but I'm really enjoying how this manga is putting more precedence on having the characters deal with their trauma and such first, rather than rushing for romance. It even makes sense when you consider how busy they've been, no one would have time to think about their emotions regarding their best friend when they've been on this non-stop rollercoaster.

I do dislike the way they've introduced this photographer girl, admittedly. That does feel pretty cliche, and frustrating. Giving her a full page intro like that does tell me we're about to get some whole arc about this girl that has, up until this scene, meant absolutely nothing to the plot. You'd think someone in the photography club would have been met by now, taking photos of students and other events in the past. Even worse, I sense a jealousy arc coming with her.

Next week marks the release the final part of Chapter 36 in Japan (via Comic Days), available for free reading. Additionally, Volume 9 is now on sale in japan & has received highly positive reviews from readers.
At present, the series spans 36 chapters & is nearing its 4th year of publication. It’s clear that Kuzushiro is taking their time to properly "cook" this story.
The narrative began from Saki’s perspective, through which we came to know Kanon. However, from Chapter 27 onward, the focus gradually shifted to Kanon’s point of view… & in doing so, we realised that the most misterious character is, in fact, Saki.
We know very little about her past, her surroundings, or the traumatic incident that scarred her during secondary school (brief flashbacks suggest Saki may have been outed or suffered a devastating rejection). This explains her fear of being discovered by Kanon and her need to conceal her feelings.
Meanwhile, Kanon is falling hard in love, but she’s also beginning to recognise that these intense emotions for Saki have crossed the boundaries of friendship.
Soon, we’ll enter the series’ dramatic arc, where Saki’s past will slowly unravel, allowing us to understand her through Kanon’s eyes.
The arrival of the photographer (though I doubt she’s an antagonist or has ill intentions) will act as a disruptive force: her eccentric and blunt personality will stir the pot, forcing Saki & Kanon to confront their emotions.
Moreover, there’s much left to explore. Kuzushiro-sensei has a history of long-running serialisations (such as Ani no Yome, which surpassed 10 years), and key future events have already been hinted at:

The writing competition.
The summer festival promise.
Rinne enrolling at Saki and Kanon’s institute during their finals school years.
The second choir festival.
And, most crucially: their promise to live together in their youth.
All I can say is… I’m eager to see what Kuzushiro-sensei has in store for this story.
