"Getting betrayed by someone close to you and taking revenge" needs to be used extremely sparingly because it quickly loses impact and makes the reader not trust or sympathize with new characters. Doing it two times so close together makes it look like the author lacks creativity. I really like this series so far and I'd hate to see it fall to a pretty amateur mistake like that.

i felt like this is still good because it's different matter; first is a party member embezzling money and now client skimming reward money. if anything the part of village chief being an acquaintance of his part is kinda unnecessary and that's what i agree on this being redundant, else it would be just how being cautious worked in that world
