I think the way how the situation played out was very unfortunate. She is a innocent child who died because of her parents' crimes and the MC's lack of conscience, empathy, and compassion. What got me was when MC and Alma was leaving, Chelsea screamed that she hates all seekers. However, even though she said that, she died holding onto the dragonfly. Despite everything that had happened, even though her belief in him was shaken to the core, she still believed in him till the end. The dragonfly was that symbol. The MC betrayed her trust, respect, and admiration for him. He is accountable for her death and her blood is on his hands. Do I believe he is accountable and guilty for what he has done? Yes. His actions has consequences and even though it was unintended does not mean he is not accountable or guiltless. It goes to show how apathetic and borderline sociopathic he is as an individual. Having read up to this point, it seems betrayal in any way, shape, or form is one of the main elements of the story.
