Yeah, this escort quest is likely linked to that bastard priest subplot, which I'm sure ain't over yet if Rashia saying "extreme circumstances" can stop her from becoming a priestess is anything to go by. Whatever the manga equivalent of Murphy's Law is. Finally, Schnee is back on stage. So she was really just delayed by her previous quest. Don't lose to your disciple now!
So the "rats" were spies sent by the kingdom to watch Schnee's activities because they couldn't trust her? I guess the kingdom deserves to panic a little for trying to use her as their national terminator or something.
The hotel is soundproofed. Pretty sure that shopkeeper lady had some interesting ideas about them...
