I never expected the last chapter (which what felt like a mostly gag one) to have this much ramification on Kuro in such a serious decision right now. Poor guy is blind sighted by all the harsh failures he's had to put up til now. I honestly don't even blame him for going for the money here... Misaki will never feel the same way he does, so why go the extra mile for her? Especially when her father apparently gave up their location so easily? (And Kanbayashi does have a point, Kuro isn't obligated to help him out any further.) Old Kuro probably wouldn't do this but he's gone through so much... besides, he'd be looking out for the rest of the gang too.

what im seeing is that kurosawa was perfectly willing to take the money... until he heard that the young master wouldn't know.

why is that important? probably something with if its about the young masters pride, integrity as a man, then it he is going all out. and such sincerity and willingness to put yourself out there, shouldnt be sullied by such an evil act of throwing the match for money.
