Oh no she's here already.

Really feeling glad about finishing translations of the original when I did. Seems like it's all about to start being exceedingly relevant. There's a couple beats in here that are almost directly lifted, like Sara proposing she could have planned all this to destroy the kingdom. And Sara's true nature is starting to show through the cracks. The bedroom scene's not as intimate this time, but there's such a bittersweet atmosphere to it that better reflects their current relationship. Natalia unsure if she should press Sara harder to see what pain she's hiding, Sara not accepting how much she already means to Natalia.

I love the new angle of Sara dreaming of being an adventurer. It comes with the sad sense she thought this banishment could only be a short chapter of her life, but is now resigned to never being anything more than Sister Sara. And the slight implication Natalia was already worried Sara might one day leave her.

Snake Princess also feels more sympathetic now, with the lore that lords of sylph have a history of taking on trouble and causing disasters the other nations need to deal with. The little sigh she gives when Natalia threatens Sara, knowing it's a total bluff. Those two have a nice rapport by the end of the chapter that I hope keeps up.

Snake Princess has an Osakan dialect when she loses it, so I've elected to go with New York Jewish. The common choice would be Southern Hick, because that's what literally everyone defaults to anytime any Japanese character has a dialect. But Osakans are stereotyped for being fast, loud, and brash which isn't far from the New Yorker stereotype and comes with a similar roughness. Sprinkle in some Yiddish and you have the similarly odd yet recognizable vocab like 'nandeyanen.' Hence the 'oy vey'. I was once told the point of scenes like this is to smack you with a stereotype, so might as well start loud. Hopefully it's not too much (fantasy New Yorker swamp-dwelling Jewish Japanese snake) but I think it has a similar effect to the raw and the manga's already mixing so many cultures.

It looks like some of Snake Princess's old role is going to Fire Princess, who's about to start a Trojan War over Sara. Fire Princess was never in the original story but her intro here gives a great display of her character. When she figures out the sword's in a girl, she's certainly going to try to steal the girl (romantically?). To protect her, Natalia's going to have to lay an even greater claim to Sara (romantically!).

Kamejiro has said her assassin partner won't be appearing this arc, and I have doubts Fire Princess is even a princess yet depending on what she needs the sword for, but she looks to be a strong contrast to Natalia here to get the action rolling.

same! Also, it lays ground for the adventure that these two will eventually go on (if the extra comes true)!

somehow, I feel the Fire Princess is gonna be a much more bigger threat (since Wind usually loses to Fire). Though I do wonder what she wants to do with the Sword? Anw, I'm super hype for new developments, since this mean we might get to see the Earth Princess too!

damn, I was hoping to see these two fliriting lol

thanks for the chapter!! Really appreciate all your efforts into this series!!!

Thanks for the translation!
I guess now there'll be (at least) 2 holes in the Wall of Trees for them to fix, the one the direwolf got in form, and the one Fire Princess is sure to make.
Is Fire Princess going to be the one responsible for Natalia needing to use the boots, like in the original version? Then we'll need some big redeeming arc if she's not to be just an antagonist.

I not only love your translation style, but also how invested you are in this work! And i can understand why. I can see this taking a place in my top 10 yuri of all time and i've been reading this genre for over 15 years now. Thank you again for your high quality translations!

You're telling me the fire princess is the one behind the coming tragedy? That oh so hot fire princess?!
Am feeling quite conflicted.
But alas, another flirty couple is about to make an entrance.
Thanks for the chapter, I'm fucking hyped now!

Edit: also I wonder how the Fire Princess will react when she finds out the royal sword is just a glorified letter opener.

So, one monster found a breach... But girlie there really just said "It needs a bigger hole." So it's true a problem never comes alone (all pun not intended).

Its amazing to see how much time, thought, and effort you have been putting into translating this series. Having a great translator translate a great series makes it a much better experience. Thank you for your hard work!
