Those clues weren't that obvious, they were blissfully in programmed world so they shouldn't feel bad about it.
Hidden tracker should be a good clue, it looks like early 50's but actually hiding something inside without body rejecting it is difficult, still should check for scars.
Also, how or why should they know about location tracking in the first place, that's just sloppy education.
