Always one plot after another, but that's what makes this so interesting. As for the position of Empress Consort, I'm not sure if Ling Shi will want it or not. On the one hand it'll solidify her position and give her more power which is something she's been working hard to get to achieve her goals. That said, her goal is to find and reunite with the spirit people so I'm not sure if she really wants to be locked into the position of Empress where it'll be harder for her to leave.

Moreover, if she does agree on the position, again it'll be for the political advantage as I don't think she fully gets the Emperor's affection for her yet and she's still in denial about her own feelings. This may create an awkward situation where he may interpret it as her accepting his proposal while she's thinking of it like a job promotion.

Aaaand I've finally caught up! A thousand thanks to Solace Translations for this chapter! I've checked the OG website and s2 is already into the 50s! you guys are amazing for the great TLs and footnotes

I'm really enjoying the Emperor and Ling Zhi's current dynamic. Unlike in the first season where you can't exactly tell if they have feelings for each other and Xuanjue's 'affection' seemed too 'pure' for a monarch that I screamed bloody knew it when he threw Lin Zhi away as a sacrifice to Empress Dowager. Though it was also apparent that they valued each other, and that's what makes the two of them very alike because their individual goals stand at the top than their 'feelings' for each other at that moment.

Now, they actually do care for each other and it's more legit (they even banter like husband and wife already!) and unlike before they would include each other in their plans. It's a real teamwork and they don't hide anything from each other with regards to their common goal.

Now that the empress consort has began moving I wonder how the two would sweep the rug off her feet on her title. I can't wait! <3

I agree with scarlet_summer. This is why I like them as a couple. Their "relationship" started on fakeness, they didn't like each other, they used each other. hated each other. and now they are getting closer and closer. I was worried that the begging of their relationship was too pure and naive, so I'm glad it turned out the way it did. I know some people want Snow King, but to me that love connection is so repetitive and you see it in every love story, it's boring. I certainly don't want all rainbows and unicorns. With Ling and Mu Xunjue you can see development, growth, some questions here and there which makes you wonder. There is a time when I side with Ling, then there is a time when I side with Mu Xuanjue. Both of them are pulling you in different directions, but you have to admit their dynamic is indeed something.
