Huh, the big reveal was the only thing that saved this story a little.

It was an okay idea, but poor in execution. Mostly cause they tried to cram too much stuff in a few chapters.

5/10 bog standard battle royale with an unsurprising twist at end, but at least it was short and to the point while hitting all the expectations you'd have of a battle royale story

I think it would have been better if it was just a computer simulation instead like Black Mirror's "Hang The DJ". In fact, I'd watch that episode for sure.

@casualqueue: yeah, that would have made more sense. I mean:
1. Creating a human clone and loading it with memories implies a level of biotech high enough to be able to completely hijack somebody's senses and immerse them in a VR world anyway
2. Creating human clones would automatically be more resource-intensive than VR
3. Creating human clones would automatically be slower than VR (tissue only grows so fast — we'd be talking months and months to make a full-sized human)
4. Ignoring all of that, creating virtual clones in a VR world would be faster and simpler
5. Using clones would be absolutely fatal PR (and possibly legally as well) if even a hint of the practice leaked out — the maximum possible upside is tiny compared to the risks being run.

Wow that ending was stupid as fuck! A clone shouldn't just be hunky-dory with the idea of dying. Fuck that!

For the most part, you can predict who is most likely to die in each chapter based on how much character exposition they get in it. Hell, actually, I called out about 3/4 of the last remaining members based on the character list, just by judging what role they were most suited to play by appearance - Protagonist, Heroine, Antagonist, and the Beauty. Turns out the remaining 1/4 died first. Welp. For the most part, I think this was an interesting and quick read for what's it worth, it's not anything real profound, but I like seeing tension at work.
