Rumors must suck, esp in high school tho i wonder if it's like "if you guys don't shut up i'll spread fake shit about you too" tho i guess that'd reflect badly/worse on you if you openly shout that

LOL other than patching up some scraped knees or letting you lie down, i wonder if any school nurse was able to give you any medicine, understandable tho unless you had your own prescription but i wonder if any school nurses were actually 'real'/ registered nurses as opposed to someone they just hired /more of someone just to be there, tho i didn't rly ever visit the nurse past elementary school so i never rly thought about it (since, anything serious to require you to send them to the er, the parents would probably have to be contacted first or so unless you like, get stabbed or have a seizure in school)

funny think is, I recently learned about The Pillow Book, a classic from 1002 year in Heian-period Japan, book of observations, musings and occasional poetry of a court lady who was very skilled in the art of wordsmithing, and one passage stood out to me (taken from here):

[251] I really can’t understand people who get angry when they hear gossip about others. How can you not discuss other people? Apart from your own concerns, what can be more beguiling to talk about and criticize than other people? But, sadly, it seems it’s wrong to discuss others, not to mention the fact that the person who’s talked about can get to hear of it and be outraged.

Of course if it’s someone you have a close bond with, you pause and consider the pain you might cause, and choose to keep your criticism to yourself — though if it weren’t someone close to you you’d no doubt go ahead and say it, and have a laugh at their expense.

It's interesting to see such an open defense of gossip, especially compared to the reaction of MC to it. Then again, I think that Sei Shōnagon didn't just gossip to make fun of someone (though she didn't mind doing it as well), she seemed to be really interested in the other people the same way she was interested in the whole world, and in describing it and putting it to paper.

She fits the stereotypical court lady, as long as it is fun it doesn't matters if the consequences of the entertainment end up staining someone else's reputation

Seems that they are both real nurses, but also need to take a teaching license, so school nurses are also teachers

im sure there are historical drams that get into it, but it's amusing to think even 1000+ years ago there'd be ppl that'd still act like "teenagers"/get sucked into petty dramas (tho back in the day i guess a slight could cause straight up wars lol)
