Hmmmm, it's certainly an interesting twist, but the I'm not really feeling that the MC wasn't putting in enough effort. Yea he was doing whatever his father told him, but he was also staying up until midnight for training. Possibly on a daily basis.

Both of the author's aliases, the previous “Watanabe Chihiro” and the current “Shinachiku”, have other creators of the same name. If the switch was motivated specificly to avoid such an overlap, they failed. In fact, the new Shinachiku overlap is worse because they're identical—both Hiragana—whereas the “Watanabe Chihiro” overlap was in Romaji only. Tho, perhaps the switch wasn't motivated by that and they just like the name “Shinachiku” more. Unfortunate for the lolisho artist either way.
