It is rare, but there have been instances outside of flat loli elves and sexy, seductive mature women as magic shop keepers, one of my favorites being a series that as far as I am aware only has a novel that I can't remember the name of, but has an old man that has a bad memory and tend to either misplace items, sell dangerous or expensive items to people for cheap by mistake, and every now and then throw a spell that has unattended affects. If I can find a link to it I will post it, but it is a series that has a good balance of humor and action.

I know it's not going to happen but there's a few things I want to see.
1) He's actually incompatible with magic and can only make use of it through swordsmanship.
2) The elf does not become interested in him at all.
3) This isn't even her final form, she just uses this form to control her magic.
4) Thanks to what happened with that quest....Mc gains even a speck of intelligence.
