@Kaarme In a romance, the drama typically lies elsewhere. The emotional journey vs rugged independence/seeking glory/friendship. Although this one is more slice of life so her emotional journey is slow/light. The stuff that's frustrating you, I swear it has made me ragequit many series. But this is what we have on the market unfortunately. At least she's not being abused and her humiliations so far have been minimal. I would say a good 50% of josei/shoujo readers don't mind those frustrating bits to the point of making excuses for them. I hope you don't see what I'm doing as glossing over a mistreated fmc.
Tbh the part I find the most frustrating, besides how dependent she is, is how her romantic interest is slickly winning her over without having to declare his feelings or be clear about his intentions. With the medieval setting and her lack of supporters who actually put her first over their various agendas... It's disturbing and predatory. But he's a nice guy so we're not supposed to notice how she's being made to fall for someone who is being kind of slick?
