I bet he'll eventually restart at the very beginning. He just needs to complete each of girls routes, then he'll unlock the final route and the true ending! Where he murders everyone who caused the girls pain and/or fear.

I realized what his reset ability is, since he keeps getting stronger every time. There are games which track your performance, and if you're so bad that you keep failing they become easier and easier, until they let you win at the end with a mocking message.
This is basically a children's version of dark souls.

Seems this Skeleton has better luck than Subaru lol (I only been able to watch the anime read a little of the Manga and Light Novel so i wouldn't know what happens further from the anime because the Manga and Light Novel weren't ahead in terms of being in English during the airing of Re:Zero)

Wait, I dont know if im dumb or I missed something, but what happened to this reset? Didnt he die, and shouldn't he have been reseted all the way back at rubia point rather than the cave?

Im a bit confused regarding the reset mechanics

@viewtiful Rather than being dumb, you just don't understand flags. Normally, you'd expect him to reset back to Rubia, but since he made a comment as he was dying about the silver lining being that he'd have another chance to protect Rubia, he raised a flag which all but guaranteed that he was going to reset to some time after Rubia died. The only surprise here is that he reset to after he met Rena instead of to some time between Rubia's death and meeting Rena. (and that he reset to lvl 1 instead of whatever lvl he was when he was previously in the cave)

I don't think it is so much as raising flags but more like he resets to a point where a new Girl comes into his life. so each new Girl that comes into his life his "reset point" gets updated sometime between meeting her and when he dies.

@GodGinrai He doesn't really reset to level 1, because every time he resets, his previous level gets added to the running total, which is now at level 70, and he keeps the stats of a level 70.

As a result, when he levels up from "1" to "2", he's really leveling up from level 70 to 71.

The first time we saw his stats, his effective level was 36, with HP 29, STR 23, AGI 18, WIS 9.
This time his effective level is 70, with HP 34, STR 40, AGI 39, and WIS 11.

On top of that, he's been accumulating a few skills and bonuses along the way.

well, he didn't go back to when he first met her so I'm thinking how far back he goes is even shorter. It looks like he might only get to retry the day. I don't think he's gone back further.

come to think of it, he got 43 stat points in 34 levels(two WIS came from books)...that isn't exactly consistent so he probably hasn't used most of his points.
