IIRC This is the battle after she didn't show up. It goes: Hilde is kidnapped and tortured into becoming a super soldier->Hildegard eventually breaks down on the battlefield, the army loses a battle causing the deaths of the Wyndhans->Unc blames HIlde for their deaths and tries to kill her and murders Ines.

He's a pyscho repeating all the same mistakes Mormodes did. Mormodes waged an aggressive war by torturing a child into doing the dirty work. August similarly tortured Terrion into being his dupe. I expect in the end, Terrion will break down in a crucial moment just as Hildegard did.
