She certainly did get a haircut - notice that in the news, she has short hair suitable for a tomboy, and it's only her snakes that are sticking out.
No idea if the haircut suits her, though. I think it's the first manga I saw where a medusa would have both snakes and hair. It's usually one or the other.

She didn't notice that one was pretty tubby?

It's outside her usual field of vision. And it seems the snakes have a mind of their own.

I feel bad for all the other snakes in her hair, who have all been informed they're not special, and for her, who is now being treated as a freak-show attraction.

...I think the sheer absurdity of the non-sequitur ending is the point of the comedy tho, so, whatever I guess.
